Mexican Jalapeno Powder
The hot Jalapeno peppers come direct from farms just over the border from Hatch in Old Mexico. The peppers are imported and inspected by Hatch Valley farmers then taken to the local mill to be ground, with the seeds, into the pure fine powder that is great for mixing in dishes where you want a very hot taste.
Jalapeno Chile powders are made from grinding whole, dried jalapeno pods and seeds. We do not add any additional ingredients in order to provide an authentic flavor.
Jalapeno Peppers are named after a town of Jalapa in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. Because of its intense spice but not quite as hot (Heat Scale of 7) as the Habanero pepper, this has become one of the most widely used chile peppers in the United States. The smoked, dried Jalapeno pepper is called a ‘chipotle’.
Suggested Uses: Use in chiles, stews, enchilada or chile sauces, barbecue rubs, roasts, soups, pizza, tacos, salsas, and beef dishes. Add into mayonnaise, aioli, guacamole, steak sauce or ketchup. The powder can also be sprinkled on salads, or mix in with salt for a unique seasoning flavor. Jalapeno chile powder can be a great addition to marinades, Bloody Marys, and almost any kind of meat or vegetable. Add directly to any recipe where a boost of spicy flavor and heat is desired.
Storage Suggestions: Like most spice, chile powders should be stored in air tight containers placed in an cool dark place. For maximum freshness, store excess powder in a plastic airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer. Keep a shaker or small container with the rest of your spices for convenience.!
